Back to school? LET’S GO!

Am I the only one who remembers having chosen a study program around the end of high school with a big lump of anxiety in my throat? It is pretty crazy to imagine that a teen is ready to choose a career when he or she is only 16 or 17 years old! We don’t know much about ourselves yet and are just beginning to discover life when, wham! we are asked to make such an important choice. Is it possible that once in your program at the DEP, Cegep or university, you discover that you don’t like it at all? Of course! It is also possible that you dropped out of your educational path because, sometimes, life does not turn out exactly as you thought it would. But you do have ambition, would like to find a job that really excites you and, for that, you probably need a diploma. At this point you may find yourself saying: perhaps I should go back to school…

But, where should you begin? There are so many different programs, in so many educational institutions: which is the best for you? How do you choose? Obviously, you want to make sure you choose a program that really matches your interests, but one which will also allow you to find a job that meets your expectations. And, have you thought about the financial aspect of returning to your studies? That needs to be planned as well! Added to which, the current pandemic may have completely turned everything upside down… Wow! It seems to be very complicated and perhaps you begin to think that you should put it all off until later…

We are very aware that it is a big decision that requires a lot of consideration! With us, your counselor or youth worker will begin by getting to know you, to understand your path, interests and values. If it is relevant for your situation, he/she will suggest certain psychometric tests to help you get to know yourself in depth and identify the keys that will enable you to clearly map out your return to studies. He/she will also work with you to identify and eliminate the obstacles which could hinder your success. What we want is for you to find your ideal place in life and that you have everything you need to be able to embark on the path that will take you there.
