With the global pandemic that hit us head-on, an entire generation was plunged into deep worry and doubt. Unprecedented challenges arose, creating significant difficulties for youth development and fulfillment. This is why Carrefour jeunesse-emploi Montréal Centre-Ville created the concept of the QJ Space— a place where the future of Montréal’s professional life can grow and connect. It is a space designed for every young person to become an active builder of their own future, as well as of tomorrow’s world. A community project—we love it!
To make the QJ Space a reality, the CJEMCV held a fundraising campaign in collaboration with La Ruche to support 20 young people through the stages of creating the Headquarters, from ideation to completion. Thanks to the fundraising campaign, which ended in December 2021, more than $25,000 was raised.
Through 11 workshops, 20 young people came together with a mentor designer and trainers, from April to June, to imagine the QJ Space—a space of creation and influence for youth, where each person can achieve fulfillment both individually and collectively. After several months of hard work, the QJ Space finally opened its doors! It was a true pleasure to witness the participants and our staff roll up their sleeves as part of this social project.
