21 August 2025
On August 21, 2025, CJEMCV hosted an evening of artistic discoveries, marking the conclusion of two creative residencies offered to artists from 2ELGBTQIA+ communities.
Program:
“On va jouer à un jeu” – Gabriel·le Lepage (Singer-Songwriter), Marie Line Mwabi Bouthillette (Dramaturgical Director), Samuel Décary (Performer)
A subversive theatrical private performance led by a trans protagonist, exploring intimacy, romantic and sexual relationships with precision and intensity, while highlighting systemic transphobia and transmisogyny. The presentation included a reading of excerpts followed by a discussion with the artists and Victoria Legault, Executive Director of ATQ (Aide aux trans du Québec).
“The Sacred Genders – En acte et en image” – FrankieB
An immersive performative installation combining poetry, photography, and autofiction to honor queer and racialized trans narratives. In an atmosphere that is both gentle and political, FrankieB weaves connections between tenderness, memory, and the reclamation of bodies, inspired by their zine The Sacred Genders. A vibrant, ritualistic work to experience in the presence of the artist.
Discussions, exchanges, collective reflections
A moment to gather, listen, question, and feel—within a caring, inclusive, and engaged space.
Whether you are an art enthusiast, an ally, a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, or simply curious, this evening offers an open door to essential and daring artistic practices. Come celebrate queer art in all its power and plurality.
